Peter Earl McCollough was born in Billings, Montana, in 1982 and grew up in Davis, California. Shortly after turning 18, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served from 2000-2004. After being honorably discharged he began studying photography in Sacramento. In 2008, after transferring to Ohio University, he received a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication with an emphasis in Photojournalism. He is currently a freelance photographer based in San Francisco.

Peter has lots of work on his website and blog. I normally don’t dig too deep into photographer’s blog but I spent a good amount of time on Peter’s following his journey across the country this year.  He’s been all over the place and that’s reflected in the nature of his work.  The impression you end up with is that of a photographer whose constantly making images.  Normally when I’m going through blogs or websites that have an abundance of photos, I desire more editing, but at times it’s nice to just be overwhelmed, especially if the work is taking you to different places like Peter’s does.
