Something I particularly admire about young photographers is their productivity.  The output can be overwhelming, yet that overwhelming feeling at times is more desirable than the constricted feeling you sometimes get from mature photographers who have refined their vision.  I appreciate both and think it’s rare that you find a photographer who can balance the two ends of the spectrum.

It’s challenging to look at a young photographer and try to imagine how they might evolve over the years. Olivia Locher is 19 and studying for her BFA in photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York. When I look at her work I feel like I’m looking at the chaotic opening chapter of her story. It makes me curious about the work she’ll produce in five or ten years when she’s had time to hone her craft and ideas.
